Postdoctoral position on Cyanobacteria polyphasic approach taxonomic studies open at the University of Liege, Belgium
Position description:
The researcher will operate at the University of Liège, specifically within the Belgian Coordinated Collections of Microorganisms (BCCM) - ULC of Cyanobacteria. Supervision will be provided by Prof. Annick Wilmotte and Dr. Luc Cornet. The BCCM consortium includes 7 culture collections, is part of the European Research Infrastructure MIRRI-ERIC and benefits from an excellent international visibility. The BCCM/ULC collection preserves a diversity of ca 400 cyanobacterial strains and is one of the largest polar cyanobacterial collections. https://bccm.belspo.be/about-us/bccm-ulc.
Responsibilities
-Perform Cyanobacterial taxonomic characterizations of BCCM/ULC strains by a polyphasic approach and valorize the strains.
-Perform Cyanobacterial strains isolation.
-Perform Amplicon sequencing dataset analysis.
Profile
-The researcher must hold a PhD in (micro)biology or relevant disciplines,ideally with 1 to 3 years of postdoctoral experience.
-Researchers must not have worked in Belgium for more than 24 months in the last 3 years.
-Experience in polyphasic taxonomy of cyanobacteria.
-Knowledge of cyanobacterial physiology and/or ecology will be considered an asset.
-Knowledge of cyanobacterial genomics will be considered an asset.
