Head of Cultivated Plant Diversity
Location: RHS Garden Wisley Salary: £54,457 - £68,908
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
Overview of Role: The RHS, the world’s leading gardening charity, is looking to recruit a Head of Cultivated Plant Diversity to lead a team in advancing our understanding of cultivated plant diversity.
Your responsibilities include developing a team that conserves cultivated plant genetic diversity, conducts high-quality research, and is focussed on delivering the RHS Plants for Purpose project. The Plants for Purpose project will document, conserve and utilize cultivated plant diversity to deliver beneficial natured based solutions through their ecosystem services.
You will lead a team in developing and delivering the RHS herbarium and living collections as a recognized resource for cultivated plant taxonomic and nomenclatural standards, research, and training. Your work will grow the RHS as a centre of excellence in cultivated plant diversity while providing authoritative advice to the RHS, industry, members, and gardeners.
Applicants for this role should have a PhD or equivalent experience in biological science, or a related field. Postdoctoral experience in relevant research and proven experience in leading, developing and managing teams.
