International Botanical Congress News

It was reported earlier this year that the upcoming International Botanical Congress in Brazil has been cancelled. The Sociedad Botánica Española (SEBOT) and Real Jardín Botánico de Madrid (RJB, CSIC) have volunteered to take on organization of the 20th IBC, with a one-year delay to July, 2024.

The dates for the rescheduled 20th International Botanical Congress in Madrid, Spain are as follows:

· Nomenclature Section, July 15-19, 2024

· Congress, July 21-27, 2024

The officers of the IBC Organizing Committee are Gonzalo Nieto Feliner (President), Juan Carlos Moreno (Vice-President) and Marcial Escudero (Secretary General).

Further details about IBC plans, including deadlines for symposium proposals and other organizational matters, will be made available shortly on the Congress website and through communications to IABMS and the numerous national botanical, mycological and phycological societies.
