Renew your IAPT membership (please)
Dear colleagues,
November is here again! Last year at this time I was looking forward to 2020 as a year with much promise. IAPT planned to participate in a several exciting international conferences where we would meet new audiences and offer our nomenclature short courses. Unfortunately, 2020 did not turn out that way. I am hoping that 2021 will be better.
It is annual membership renewal time at the International Association for Plant Taxonomy. If you are a current member your 2020 membership will expire on December 31st. Renew now for 2021 to continue enjoying the benefits of membership, and to continue supporting IAPT.
If you are not yet an IAPT member or if you have let your membership lapse, I encourage you to join/re-join as a member to support IAPT in serving the global plant systematics community. Please join now for 2021.
IAPT is an international organization that supports research on the taxonomy and systematics of plants, fungi, and algae. We support and facilitate governance of our system of nomenclature. We publish the journal Taxon, which is the leading international journal in our field, as well as books on a wide range of topics. We give grants for research (24 grants awarded in 2020 for total of $41,700 USD) and collections improvements (a new program that awarded 10 grants in 2020 for a total of $19,984 USD). We also organize and host international symposia and workshops. And we give prestigious awards to recognize accomplishments in our field. What better way to introduce and welcome new members of our community to the field, and to the International Association for Plant Taxonomy. Student memberships are just $17 USD.
